On 5th March fifteen native trees were planted at the village hall field by children from the village. The trees were a mixture of hazel, crab apple and rowan and were donated by the Woodland Trust. The trees were very small, being 1 year whips, but these are most likely to do well as they are growing up in the soil they will remain in.
It wasn't a very nice day, weatherwise, so it was lovely to see so many children and parents turning up. The trees are each marked with the name of the child who planted the tree and the plastic ties will be replaced with something a bit nicer when the trees have grown a bit.
Thanks to Diana of the village hall committee for organising the event and baby-minding the trees for the last few weeks.
