A contribution was also made to Clopton Village Hall Funds.
In 2015 we were, again, very lucky with the weather. A cloudy and showery morning gave way to a beautiful afternoon. Although this year we were competing with both the Woodbridge Regatta and Fathers' Day, we still had a very good turn out and raised a substantial amount for charity.
This year we supported two charities, EACH (East Anglia Children's Hospice) and St Elizabeth Hospice. We were able to donate £470.00 to each charity, along with a contribution to the running costs of our village hall.
2016 Midsummer Fete
Another sunny day - three in a row!
Our entertainers this year were Charlie Law, Aartwork and Zahara Belly Dancers. In addition to the usual tea and cakes in the village hall, there were hot dogs, burgers and fish dinners available from Gally Slaves and ice creams from Adam Alexander's mobile van. We also ran a beer tent this year, which is likely to become a regular feature.
After costs were deducted, proceeds this year amounted to £1075. £600 was donated to Blue Cross Animal Charity and the remainder, plus profits from a jumble sale held earlier in the year, were shared between the Clopton Village Hall Fund and Clopton Church Fund.
Charlie Law, Aartwork and Zahara Belly Dancers for the entertainment;
Carle Vince, for all the publicity posters;
Anthony Ling of Grange Farm, for the loan of the straw bales;
Debach Enterprises for the loan of a trailer as stage;
All the village bakers who supplied us with the cakes for the refreshments;
Everyone who donated in any way to the success of the fete!
There will be no fete this year (2017) in order to give the fete organisers a break, but, hopefully we will be back next year.
Following requests for volunteers to help with the 2018 fete, we have to report a total of zero replies. There will, therefore, be no fete in 2018.
